Laurie Tomlinson - WAHM

Welcome to The Naptime Novelists! I’m Laurie, aka the Work-At-Home Mom (WAHM).
I’m here to talk about balancing life as a wife and mom who runs a freelance writing, editing, and PR consulting business from my home in addition to writing novels. But mostly, I’m here to encourage other moms.

Whether you fit the bill of SAHM, WAHM, WOHM, or another acronym, I want you to know you’re doing important work. And in the trenches of nose wiping, budget crunching, and boo-boo kissing, you’re definitely not alone. Motherhood is like a society of sisters, banding together even when pulling rotten vegetables from the refrigerator, ordering take out for the second night in a row, and apologizing to our kids for losing our temper again. If have absolutely no idea what I’m talking about, more power to you.

And would you please pass a Diet Dr. Pepper?

About me:

My first role is wife to JT, mama to my two-year-old blondie, and doggie mama to our 70lb yellow Lab who thinks he’s our first child. I enjoy cooking, singing pretty much all the time, and I always have a good novel in my bag—usually tucked between the diapers.

My writing:
During naptime when the freelance work is finished, I write inspirational contemporary romance novels — stories of grace in the beautiful mess. A member of My Book Therapy and the American Christian Fiction Writers, my first novel received the 2013 Genesis Award for Contemporary fiction, and my second is a current semifinalist in the Romance category of the 2014 Genesis contest. My work is represented by Rachel Kent of Books & Such Literary.
